Federal Contracting

Walk through the government vendor list, then find work worth a bid.

SAM is the government’s company list. You must be on it, marked Active, to bid and get paid. FedM8 is a private company.

How it works

Lessons if you are new. Tools when you are ready to do the work.

Start with a short how-to. Or open the tools if you already know what you need.

The tools

This is where you do the work

See where the government spends money. Find open work that matches what you sell. Get help on your first offer. See which company won last time before you write yours.

Directory

The Veteran Directory

List your business so other veteran shops on FedM8 can find you. Primes still look on SAM and DSBS. You pick what shows.

  • List your business free. It takes a few minutes.
  • You control what contact info shows. CAGE, UEI, email, and phone stay hidden until you say otherwise
  • List your business free. Browse other shops on Pro.

Why it matters

Most first wins are as a partner

The government often signs with a bigger company. That company then hires partners. Official lists (SAM, DSBS) still matter. Your FedM8 listing is extra, not a replacement.

How reviews work

If two pages disagree, that line stays empty.

A review is a reading of the official listing. It is not your bid. We only fill a field when we can point to one place on the notice. If Section C says 12 months and an attachment says 18, that field stays blank. You open the PDF and decide.

On the notice

Section C says period of performance is 12 months. An attachment says 18 months with no amendment.

What you get

  • Cited: agency, NAICS, due date from the notice row
  • Blank: period of performance. The package disagrees.
  • Next: open the PDF. Do not staff a proposal on the blank.
What Pro saves

See who won last time, without a whole day of digging.

The government already publishes who won. Looking that up by yourself can take wasted hours. The Pro plan puts the winners, dollar amounts, and when similar awards end, all on one screen for you.

By hand

Open USAspending. Filter NAICS. Export. Match solicitation IDs. Look up each incumbent. Repeat when an amendment drops.

On Pro

Pick the notice. See who won work like this, what they were paid, and when similar awards end. Then decide whether to bid.
